I was fortunate to talk about two great novels recently. At Numéro Cinq, I reviewed Horacio Castellanos Moya’s Revulsion: Thomas Bernhard in San Salvador, and Kenyon Review Online features my piece on Rachel B. Glaser’s art school novel, Paulina & Fran.

Some (new) News
A few new items have popped up recently.
One is a tiny essay I wrote called “Exoneration,” which appears in the latest issue of 5×5. It’s only one sentence long, but that sentence is far from short.
Also out are a couple of book reviews. At NC, I got to talk about Masande Ntshanga’s amazing novel, The Reactive. And I was so happy to review Abby Frucht and Laurie Alberts’ new, crazy tale, A Well-Made Bed, for The Northwest Review of Books.
New Stuff
Some new(ish) book reviews:
- At Numéro Cinq, I wrote about Hubert Haddad’s novel Rochester Knockings.
- For The Georgia Review, I covered Tracy Daugherty’s Empire of the Dead (this is only available in the print edition).
- I talked about two books at Vol. 1 Brooklyn: Amber Sparks’s new collection, The Unfinished World, and Nance Van Winckel’s Ever Yrs.
To the Black Sea: 2 New Book Reviews
Two new book reviews out in the world. For Kenyon Review Online, I break down David Bezmozgis’s excellent novel, The Betrayers. Then, at Numéro Cinq, I talk about Jeff Parker’s nonfiction journal/travelogue, Where Bears Roam the Streets. Both books are very, very different, but they share geography, with The Betrayers set on the Crimean coastline and a large chunk of Parker’s narrative also unfolding along the warm edge of the Black Sea.
